THE ENGAGEMENTS
THE ENGAGEMENTS
The Engagements is an “alt-wedding band” based in Brooklyn, NY that plays a lot of 80’s covers, along with rare soul and Motown.

“The eleven instrument swappers who crowd The Engagements’ stage can do straight-up hits, but they’d rather be rocking ‘This Charming Man.’” - New York Magazine

“The premier ’80’s-covering wedding band.” - Paper Mag

The Engagements players have logged hours in the studio and on the road with the likes of Sharon Jones and The Dap-Kings, Steely Dan, Harry Belafonte and Mali Music, Kat Edmonson, Dr. Lonnie Smith, Robin McKelle, French Kicks, David Byrne, Slick Rick, Morgan James, The Sweet Divines, John Forte, Mobb Deep, & Aloe Blacc.
MIXTAPE: a cover band for hipsters
MIXTAPE: a cover band for hipsters
At long last, a professional event band that plays the music that represents you.

Designed to be like a live performance of your favorite mixtape, MIXTAPE has been hailed by VOGUE as one of five bands in the country “guaranteed to keep your party going until the wee hours of the morning” and to take your event “from just lovely to legendary.”
Let us rock for you.
Dexter Lake Club Band
Dexter Lake Club Band
The original anti-wedding band, Dexter Lake Club Band is a NYC institution and the first call for those seeking a non-cheesy alternative for the music at their event. We play the best classic rock, soul, 80's and curated songs from today and work closely with out clients to craft a set list that reflects their tastes and makes their wedding completely memorable.
Doll Parts
Doll Parts
Brooklyn's Premier Dolly Parton Cover Band-- they have been actively spreading the gospel of Dolly Parton to venues throughout the east coast. Since Dolly doesn't hold back, they don’t either! Make no mistake they “BRING THE Y'ALL, Y’ALL!”
Soft as a Pear
Soft as a Pear
Soft As A Pear began when classical musicians Rachel Leah Blumenthal and Joel Edinberg were asked to play at the wedding ceremonies of friends who were seeking something both personal and unique. They decided to break out of the traditional wedding box by arranging hard rock and punk songs for their instruments

Rachel & Joel’s epic combination of flute and saxophone create a sound tailor-made for wedding ceremonies, while their (unexpected) repertoire delivers the delicious, classic MTV- and gaming-inspired melodies you didn’t even know you wanted.

Billy Idol? Guns N Roses? Bell Biv Devoe? Legend of Zelda?! Game of Thrones??!!

Check, check, check, check, check. But they can also cover your J.S. Bach, your Mendelssohn, and many other classics to fill out your ceremony needs.
Baby Soda Jazz Band
Baby Soda Jazz Band
Baby Soda was formed in 2007 in Brooklyn New York, by musicians who met playing traditional jazz in Washington Square Park and the NYC subway system. The group has grown and changed over the years, to include a large family of talented New York musicians, many coming here to realize their musical aspirations. You can find photos and profiles of some of the musicians who have played with Baby Soda over the years on the Archive page. The repertoire has changed as well with the original ensemble playing more of the music common to the street bands in New Orleans today.

The current repertoire has expanded to include more of the music of Duke Ellington, Fats Waller, Hoagy Carmichael, Harry Warren & the composers who created the great American songs of Tin Pan Alley. We are not recreationists, playing note for note transcriptions, but play this expanded repertoire in the New Orleans style of small ensemble improvisation, blending highly arranged and improvised sections.

The instrumentation is a distinctive part of our sound. A low-boy hi-hat, and one string box bass, both designed and manufactured by the box bass player, and a wood block, has replaced the washboard as the percussion section most of the time. It's played by the horn and banjo players, unless we're performing with a traditional kit drummer.
Tribute String Quartet
Tribute String Quartet
The Tribute String Quartet is a great fit for couples seeking unique music for their wedding. The group’s musical interpretations of artists like Hall N Oates, Elton John, Sam Cooke, and Journey make them stand out from the crowd. Their ability to create exclusive, custom arrangements of your favorite songs is unequaled in the world of wedding string ensembles. It’s like having your own personal mini orchestra for your wedding.
