Dos Santos: Anti-Beat Orquesta is a Chicago-based band that rocks the sounds of popular Latin dance genres with psychedelic flare, from Colombian Cumbia to Afro-Caribbean Salsa. Recently voted Chicago's Best Emerging Artist of 2015 by the Deli Magazine's Readers Poll, their gritty and grassroots approach captures the “golden age” of streamlined tight-knit ensembles of the 1970s and 80s that shook sweatbox dance floors with fierce energy all over Latin America—honest dance music with no frills and no fear, anchored by reverb-slathered guitars, Hammond organ, and syncopated percussion.
Money Chicha
Money Chicha
Money Chicha is an Austin, Texas based group featuring members of the Grammy-award winning Latin orchestra Grupo Fantasma and its offshoot funk outfit Brownout which performs a fuzzed-out, reverb-drenched and percussion-heavy style of music inspired by the sounds of Peru and Colombia in the 60’s and 70’s. This style of music, sometimes called “Chicha” music, is known for its infectious Latin beat, its psychedelic, surf guitar pyrotechnics and its melodies influenced by the indigenous culture of the Andes mountains.

The group’s sound is derived from the exhilarating syncopations of congas, cowbell and timbales, the gritty tones of combo organs and vintage synthesizers, effects-laden guitar melodies, insistent basslines and a healthy dose of trippy, psychedelic effects. Money Chicha is a modern translation of this South American musical style interpreted by highly skilled veterans of America’s most vibrant music town. In their capable hands the “Chicha” genre takes on a new and unique character, guaranteed to move one to both dance and listen, entranced by the undeniable rhythms and virtuosic displays of musicality.
DJ Bembona
DJ Bembona
If her name sounds familiar, it's because you've heard it before. DJ BEMBONA has played at iBomba, Que Bajo?!, Afro-Latino Festival, Maracuyeah, and many more. Her Boricua-Panameña roots merge with her Brooklyn upbringing to showcase sounds that shift between the past and the future, finding the fine line where contemporary meets classic and the Latinx diaspora shines. Her current residency at Camaradas El Barrio (Vibras NYC) is a celebration of just that --- generations coming together through African & Indigenous rhythms and new Latinx sounds. DJ BEMBONA's debut mixtape, "La Sala", was premiered by Remezcla, and her latest mixtape "Trapbeldia" was featured on La Liga Zine. "Mi Casa No Es Su Casa", her second mixtape, sampled news coverage from the project of the same name and elevated the NYC movement against gentrification. She's the sound engineer, co-producer & music curator for Loca Vibes Radio, which airs every Thursday (10pm-12am) on Radio Free Brooklyn. You can also catch her speaking her mind at multiple spaces in NYC as she continues to actively involve herself as an activist.
