History

The Bell House has been a cornerstone of Brooklyn arts and entertainment since opening its doors in 2008. Housed in a renovated 1920s warehouse in Gowanus, the venue transformed an industrial space into a warm, wood-arched performance hub. From its earliest shows, The Bell House quickly became known for presenting an eclectic mix of live music, comedy, storytelling, and podcast events, drawing audiences from across the New York City area.

The venue features two distinct rooms: a spacious performance space with soaring ceilings and a dedicated stage, and a welcoming front lounge ideal for intimate sets and community gatherings. Over the years, The Bell House has hosted nationally touring comedians, rising indie bands, beloved podcasts, and long-running series — including NPR’s Ask Me Another, the hit podcast Two Dope Queens, the long-running Eugene Mirman Comedy Festival, and recurring shows from Las Culturistas with Matt Rogers and Bowen Yang.

Acts who have taken the stage include Jim Gaffigan, Chris Rock, Bob Odenkirk & David Cross, Trevor Noah, Michelle Buteau, John Mulaney, Ilana Glazer & Abbi Jacobson, Hasan Minhaj, Mike Birbiglia, Tim Heidecker, Kate Berlant, Paul F. Tompkins, and more.
